About This Project

In an another exciting collaboration with Aircards and partner agencies NTN and This is Energy, we helped Vauxhall Motors ltd. celebrate the launch of the new Astra Electric. This campaign marked a first of its kind for NTN, featuring two vibrant, hand-painted murals located in the bustling cities of London and Manchester, and extended beyond the streets to include an at-home experience using SLAM. These murals, not only a testament to the bold energy of the Astra Electric but also an innovative approach to engagement, came alive through augmented reality.

By scanning the murals' QR codes, onlookers were treated to a captivating AR experience where the Astra Electric was brought to life. This immersive experience allowed individuals to interact with the car in a novel way, showcasing its features and the dynamic energy it embodies.

The Vauxhall Astra Electric AR campaign has successfully generated buzz and engagement, capturing the imagination of both street art enthusiasts and automotive fans alike. Highlights of the campaign's impact include:

Technical Details

Developed using A-Frame, Three.js, and 8th Wall technologies, using multiple target tracking for the murals as well as SLAM for the at home experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Development: Lead the development of the AR experience, integrating 3D models and AR functionalities to align with the physical murals. This involved tackling challenges related to accurate scaling, user interaction under diverse lighting conditions, and ensuring a seamless experience across different devices.
  • Optimization Across Devices: Implemented a rigorous optimization process for both code and assets to ensure quick loading times and a visually impressive display on a wide range of devices.
  • Analytics Implementation: Integrated Metalitix for spatial analytics, alongside Google Analytics, to capture detailed insights on user engagement, interaction patterns, and overall campaign reach.
